About

An early contributor to the Family Travel Association's development efforts, Erin is considered the authority for traveling Alaska with children. She is author of two guidebooks, Alaska On the Go: Exploring the 49th state with children, and its sequel, Alaska On the Go: Exploring the Alaska Marine Highway System with children. Her website AKontheGO was the premier resource for visitors, travel trade and community partners to discover Alaska and create products and services to benefit the Alaska tourism industry. Additionally, Erin was a weekly columnist for Alaska's statewide newspaper, Anchorage Daily News.

Now an empty-nest parent, Erin is located on Washington's North Olympic Peninsula where she and her husband James are building a small homestead in the shadow of Olympic National Park. Erin continues to write and report on Alaska travel opportunities and issues, but has now expanded her area of focus to the Pacific Northwest. 

Currently, Erin writes for Lonely Planet's guidebook and digital content teams, most recently as Lead Writer for the newest Alaska Blue Spine guide. She also is a contributing writer for a number of digital and print platforms. 

Areas of expertise: Alaska and Pacific Northwest travel, family travel, adventure, blogs and social media content, differently-abled children. FAM tour planning and implementation.
